Itinerary
Day 1: Journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park
You begin your journey bright and early, departing from Entebbe or Kampala. You settle in for the approximately seven-hour drive toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. Along the way, you make your first mandatory stop at the Equator monument, where you take photographs and witness the imaginary line dividing the globe. You then continue your transfer and pause in Mbarara to savor lunch at the popular Igongo Cultural Centre and Restaurant. Refreshed, you proceed to the park, check into your selected lodge, have dinner, and rest before the wildlife viewing begins.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Boat Safari
You rise before the sun to embark on the quintessential morning game drive. Then we actively search for large mammal species, including massive herds of elephants and buffaloes. You pass through the mating grounds of the Uganda Kobs and look for waterbucks, all while keeping a keen eye out for the stealthy predator’s lions, leopards, and spotted hyenas—that hunt in the early hours. Enjoy a hot lunch, either returning to your lodge if it is nearby or dining at a convenient location close to the Kazinga Channel to maximize your time.
After lunch, you board a vessel for the famous Kazinga Channel boat safari. You spend the afternoon on the 32-kilometer channel; where you witness large gatherings of hippos, observe Nile crocodiles basking on the banks, and see elephants and buffaloes drinking at the water’s edge. This channel allows you to spot the park’s localized “Big Five”: the elephant, hippo, buffalo, Nile crocodile, and African fish eagle. Following the cruise, you enjoy a final game drive as you return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Lions in the Trees and Transfer to Bwindi
Have an early breakfast and depart from Queen Elizabeth National Park. Your route takes you south through the Ishasha sector. Then we deliberately drive through this wilderness area for the distinct chance to spot the famous tree-climbing lions, which uniquely rest high in the fig trees. You continue your transfer through the scenic Kigezi highlands. Arrive at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you check into your forest lodge, eat dinner, and await your unforgettable encounter.
Day 4: Trekking for Gorillas
Wake up with excitement and eat an early breakfast. Then its time to gather your essential gear and head to the park headquarters. Listen intently to the briefing provided by the UWA rangers, learning the rules that protect the mountain gorillas and ensure your safety. Join your assigned trekking group and follow the expert trackers deep into the dense, misty forest. You climb steep slopes and navigate muddy trails, trusting your guides as they search for the habituated family. When your guides locate the gorillas, you approach them carefully. You spend one extraordinary hour sitting quietly and observing the silverbacks, mothers, and playful juveniles. After this deeply moving experience, you hike back out. Receive a certificate confirming your trek, and return to your lodge to relax and recount the day’s awe-inspiring moments.
Day 5: Departure
Enjoy your final breakfast surrounded by the beauty of the Bwindi forest. Check out of the lodge and begin your final transfer. Your driver takes you back to Entebbe/Kampala. Depending on your international flight arrangements, you could also choose to drive to Kigali, Rwanda. Take back home good memories!
